SHORT DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The project entails the partial demolishment of an existing building on the site and the construction of a new two-storey building. The building had to fit wall-to-wall between existing neighbouring buildings and designs had to be made from exact measurements made on site.

Following soil investigations, special consideration had to be given to the foundation and structural design of the building. The building included mechanical and electrical building utilities, with a dedicated standby generator and water storage tank to cater for water and power outages experienced in Luanda from time to time.

Since the new building was surrounded by existing build-up structures, natural ventilation of the building interior was not possible. A specially designed mechanical ventilation and air conditioning system had to be provided.
