SHORT DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

Burmeister & Partners has been involved with engineering designs and documentation of The New Government Hangar Facility at the Eros Airport since the start of 2006. In February 2008, the contractor commenced with the construction of the first phase of this state-of-the-art facility , at a estimated construction budget of N$103 million. It is estimated that this facility will be completed by January 2010.

This project comprises two adjacent hangars, which will house the Government aircraft fleet, accommodation for administrative staff, and accommodation for technical and maintenance staff. A future phase includes a new passenger terminal building. The hangar area comprises two separate aeroplane storage area's of approximately 2000m² each In the larger hangar , adequate capacity was allowed for a Boeing 737 Business Jet with a wingspan and tail height of approximately 40m and 14m respectively.
