SHORT DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

Burmeister and Partners were commissioned to carry out a visual assessment of the main runway and taxi areas of the Eros Airport, Windhoek. Based on these observations, supplemented by limited trial holes, DCP testing and laboratory tests, a report was produced, commenting on the current structural capacity, the present condition and recommending measures to extend the life of the pavements.

Following the report and assessment, the consultant designed an overlay and went out on contract to repair potholes and crack sealing before the runway and taxiways was resealed.

The observed distress was presented separately under the following categories: cracking, deformation, breaking up and smoothing of the surface.
