SHORT DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The Bapsfontein Abbatoir with a slaughtering capacity of 240 cattle per day was built and commissioned in 2002. Part of our deliverables were to design, procure on behalf of the Client and supervise the installation of a complete waste water treatment scheme for the abattoir that meets the stringent regulations of the local Water Affairs. The system consisted of the following key components:

  • Effluent pump station and pipeline
  • Static screen for grid removal
  • Blood and paunch handling systems
  • Unaerobic and Aerobic dams
  • Clarifier
  • Solid waste drying beds
  • Clear water dam (used for irrigation)
